Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to run in the Colour Dash?

Nope! You can run, walk, dash, crawl or roll. Should you choose to crawl or roll we highly recommend making colour-dust-angels!

2. What's included in my registration?

Every registration gets a Colour Dash t-shirt, a 2015 wristband and a colour pack (for the end Colour Explosion).

3. What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

We will DASH rain or shine, as long as it’s safe to be outside.- some of the best fun we've had has been when it's wet!

4. Are pets allowed?

Nope.

5. Are bikes or skateboards allowed ?

It’s a shame to say no .. but the only wheels allowed are pushchairs and wheelchairs.

6. What are the age limits?

That’s the great thing – there are no age limits!! However, if you are walking with young children we suggest that you bring a stroller. A 3k to 5K walk/run is a pretty good distance for the little ones.  Under 5's are free and will just need to be signed in at the Dash. Shirts and colour are not included for Under 5's, but will be available for purchase.

7. When can I pick up my packet?

Check your location Colour Dash page for specific check-in times.

8. What should I wear?

Well for starters, you can wear the awesome Colour Dash T-shirt that we include in your registration. Other than that we would say as much white as you can! Just remember that whatever you wear will be COLOURED! Also, be creative and have fun…but most importantly wear that smile of yours!

9. What happens after I finish the Dash?

Make sure that stick around for our Colour Dash Finale!! We will have a COLOUR EXPLOSION that you won’t want to miss. Afterwards, grab something to eat or drink and have fun. Dance off’s and great memories are sure to take place!

10. Is the Colour Dash timed?

Nope, we are here for a great time – not to keep the time!

11. Do the "Colour Zones" affect vision or breathing?

The Colour explosions are basically food grade cornstarch and food grade colouring, which are both 100% natural and SAFE. As with any substance, you will want to keep it out of your eyes and our “certified” colour throwers will work hard to make it so our precious “Colour Dashers” get as much or as little colour on them as they like. Some “Colour DASHERS” opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths.

12. Are there any refunds?

Sorry, there are no refunds. However, if you would like you can transfer your registration to another Dasher, just get hold of us via our CONTACT page.

13. What is the Colour?

It’s food-grade cornstarch and food-grade colouring.

14. Can spectators attend the After-Dash activities?

Absolutely. Spectators and Dashers alike can hang out and attend the Colour Explosion as well as eat and be merry! We can’t guarantee that they won’t get colour-fied in the process though! Colour Dash Packs and our Dash Store will be open to all!

15. Are cameras and phones safe to have in the "Colour Zones"?

Our race photographers are totally fine snapping shots from a medium distance. If you want to get pictures in the colour zones we suggest covering your phones or cameras with a baggie or sealed case. At some locations we will have professional photographers taking colour portraits and fun photo booths for a small fee.

16. Is the Colour permanent?

We suggest shaking off the dust after the Dash, before you get in your car, You will however need a shower or two to return to your normal skin tone. If you want it to stay on your clothes as a souvenir, we've been told that you just need to spray your clothes with vinegar and iron it-- the colour will not stay on as vibrant after you wash it though.

17. What does the DASH benefit?

Ronald McDonald House is the chosen Charity for the 2015 Colour Dash Down Under Tour. Read more on our ABOUT page.

18. How can I get a DASH in my area?.

Please send us an email at info@colourdash.co.nz and we will get back to you! We'd love to help brighten your community!
